When you take a closer look, it's wonderful!
People seriously under rate South Bend. I am not sure why. I guess I was just lucky enough to land in Eric Lester's back yard. For real though, if you're a college kid in this area you're probably on facebook instead of tribe, but that just goes to show how much you've tried to extend yourself to the larger community. Take a bike ride, or a bike tour if Eric gets it together! The Potawatami Greenhouse is a favorite "hang out" spot for me. Also, the Studio Arts Center. Just be willing to go with the flow. - marissa , posted 09/11/06

Relative to the fifty mile radius South Bend has a rather interesting underground.
If ever caught in South Bend Indiana (home of Notre Dame University) find Lula,s Cafe on Eddison Rd. and SR23. Find an old guy with long hair named Greg or any one else who looks weird and tell them Eric The Wierd Guy With Glasses sent you. Ask about drumming, look at the Bulitin Board of Yoga Flyers for any thing else happening, and complain they don't have Mate' (please). Then go down town to Chocolate Cafe and find Gabe the guy with glasses and dark hair and ask about Drum Circles and Urban Exploration. Find the South Bent Drum Circle in the various parks along the river on the odd days of the week (S,T,Th,St) and meet the eclectic folks of the area. Any way South Bent Is difficult to engauge and connect. I hope any travelers well who find them selves in my back yard. - Eric , posted 03/07/06
