Position Overview: Development Coordinator Heart of Oregon Corps – Bend, OR August 2008-August 2009 Start Date: August 18th Organization Overview: The Heart of Oregon Corps is a youth and young adult training employment program that provides an avenue to reduce poverty, stimulate economic growth, and maintain the natural environment. Position Summary: Under the direction of the Business Manager, the VISTA Development Coordinator will implement a Fundraising and Business Plan for the Heart of Oregon Corps. Position Responsiblities: Coordinate Resource Development – • Develop proposals, write grant applications, and secure funding • Implement an annual fundraising event • Develop and implement outcome-based evaluation methods • Solicit financial and in-kind support from business partners • Develop Membership Gift Society Support the Development of Heart of Oregon’s Business Plan – • Cultivate and formalize business and educational partnerships • Support resource development for the new HOC facility • Develop HR, Volunteer, and Staff Development policies and procedures Qualifications: • Experience (1+ years) with non-profits, education, employment, or public relations • Degree and/or experience that provides required knowledge and skills • Excellent professional presentation, communication, networking skills • Ability to successfully write grant applications • Strong proficiency using computers and Microsoft Office applications • Ability to produce self-directed, organized, high-quality work • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel with Central Oregon Benefits: • Education Award that can be applied to student loans or future education ($4725) • Loan forbearance (w/ interest paid) during service • Living stipend ($9999) distributed over 12 months • Professional development and networking • Red Cross disaster response training To apply: please send a resume and cover letter to to: info@heartoforegon.org For more information, call 541-633-7834

Help spread Light and Love at a Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Ctr I am the director of a Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Ctr in northern Vermont, named Milarepa Center, and I am looking for some good friends to come help out for the summer. We have 300 acres and it's extremely peaceful and beautiful. During summers we host Tibetan Lineage Lamas who give amazing Buddhist teachings and initiations. Providing the opportunity and conditions for others to meditate and receive spiritual guidance is unparalleled in joy and satisfaction by anything I know of. We have a wonderful group currently lined up for our staff this summer. We are now looking for several summer volunteers to complete the picture. In exchange for 25 hrs a week of gardening, landscaping, general cleaning, kitchen help, and organization of the courses, you receive a bed, yummy vegetarian food, and attendance at all our courses and teachings. I have spent quite a few years doing this when I was younger and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to deepen their spiritual path.
